This morning, a cousin sent me photos from a party that she went to this weekend. She is wearing RED lipstick in the pictures. The color that I can’t carry to save my life! She looks fabulous, however. Recently, you must’ve seen the newly crowned Miss Universe wearing a beautiful red gown for her evening gown round in the contest with a beautiful red lip color adorning her gorgeous lips sparkling up her smile! Needless to say, I lurrrrrrrve red lip color!!!! Love Love Love!!! Especially after Angelina Jolie wore it in Gone in 60 seconds! ;) But I can’t wear it!!! My skin be too ‘yellow’. Undertone is ‘golden yellow’, many make-up people you see in malls told me. So I can do pinks and berries and wines and burgundies at the most but red … umm err I am yet to find one that won’t make me look like I’ve just stepped out of a horror film.
Does anyone else have the same problem as me with red lipsticks? Is there a shade / company make that caters to ‘yellow’ people like us? :| I’d like to try a red that’s tested and tried by one of y’all yellow skinned people. :D Pliss to spray me with your fountains of wisdom?

Try a darker red, not the red red, but a winier red… Go down to Victoria’s secret- am sure there is a red there….

Hi, welcome to the club. I tried the bright red colour a few days back, and I looked like an actress oops a faux pa outta a ramsay movie…!!! But- pinks and maroons work really nice. But the best tone has been the buff shade topping it over with an electric pink lip gloss.

I can never carry it either, but I don’t like it, so does not matter, I am all into nude shades these days. I tried everything from pinks to maroons, browns to mauves, frosted, matt every damn thing. All gone now, the whole collection…….So much to sacrifice as a mother I tell you!!

lol if that’s all the sacrifice u have to make, i really don’t have much to give but 1 lipgloss, 3 lipsticks, one blush color, one eyeliner and a mascara. i’d be a terrible mother. :(

yeah!! i got a couple wine-y ones too . i got this really sultry burgundy types too recently. it IS a bold color and i quite like it too … not for day time at all though … but jes, it’s not that fire engine red that we love and dream of. :(

red lipstick makes me look like a slut… erm, most dark coloured lipsticks make me look like a slut infact… so i guess you’re lucky to pass off merely as a blood sucking vamp roopie :p

I have a chataaak red lipstick which I apply and then wipe off w3ith a tissue to get the purrrfect red shade :P
I love red nailpaint, but it makes me look absolutely bai – like, so I ma forced to stick to browns and silvers in nail paints.I have every shade imaginable in them :(

Aha! Same with meeee! The Gorgeous Red and the Gorgeous Pink stand out too boldly on me. I get tempted to buy it and then stock it somewhere! And then whine and whine about it! Haannn…. even I have this fair skin thing with tones of yellow!
And every time I look at these super delicious red shades and my skin tone…. the only thing I say is – Bhagwanji, ae ki kar ditta?! :P :D

I got some Cover Girl brand reds (yeah! cheap, drugstore lipstick is what I buy) and they look fine on me.

Well, no one else has said that specifically though.
Woman, I got no time for makeup and now…no thanks to you…I have to spend precious minutes after each application of red to decide between whole impact or whore.
Thankfully I hardly ever wear lipstick.
Yellow skinned? Undertone? What is all that? Great!, now I dont know my skin color.

Confuse me more. how about ivoryish undertone with subtle hues of pink amidst various shades of brown, although not the chocolatey kind.
